Tug London Makes Waves Volunteering at the Grand Union Canal

Last month, our Tug London office took a quick break from digital marketing to connect with the local community – volunteering at the Grand Union Canal in Ealing.

We volunteered for two days with our amazing client Canal and River Trust, working to revamp the area’s canal gates and locks.

The team worked on the Hanwell Lock Flight, a vital, historical part of the local landscape that requires regular maintenance to continue serving the community.

The Hanwell Lock Flight is an impressive sequence of locks on the Grand Union Canal. Built in 1794, it was once a bustling with activity during the Industrial Revolution – and now serves as a scenic reminder of our industrial heritage.

Our volunteer time was spent tackling some essential landscaping and painting around the area. This hands-on effort not only improved the appearance of the canal but also contributed to the ongoing maintenance that these historic sites need.

Canals and rivers serve as a way to connect with nature, improve our wellbeing, reduce our carbon footprint and keep us connected to the past. As the UK’s largest canal charity, Canal and River Trust plays an impactful role in renewing and protecting these canals.

Going the Extra Mile

Our time volunteering just goes to show the positive impact businesses can have when they invest time and effort into local initiatives.

At Tug, we always strive to go beyond the basics for our clients. On top of our expert services, we truly dive deep to understand the wants and needs of everyone we work with. From this, our clients’ passion and drive becomes our own, leading to meaningful opportunities, stronger client relationships, and great days out for the team.
