Marissa Mayer’s been very busy lately leading Yahoo’s revolution, and I thought it apt to go back in time and explore the changes its homepage has undergone since 1996.
Looking at the screenshots below, what might make the New Media geeks among us shed a tear of nostalgia is the return of the search directory present in the 1996 screenshot. An archaic library like system of indexing and ordering websites that has long been rendered ineffective thanks to the advent of Google and evolution of its algorithms.
What should be mentioned though is Yahoo’s recent logo change – its first since 1995 – and I’d have to say personally, I preferred other designs.
The top toolbar in the 2013 screenshot is also strikingly familiar… Google, anyone?
