Google shuts down specialty search tools

Vertical search seems to be dying. Google has shut down two widely used search tools, including 2 that focussed on US government specific searches namely, Uncle Sam and USGov.Google.com. They argue that ‘most’ searches can be now found on Google.com – I wonder why they are not worried about the 5% or so of searches in these verticals that fall through the cracks? Do they still want to organise the world’s information? Or only the information that can somehow be monitized…
