Adobe to Acquire Omniture – Shares Slump

Omniture LogoAdobe have officialy announced their plans to acquire the Analytics company, Omniture. Shortly after Adobe released their plans, their shares fell by 6%. This will hopefully lead to better tracking for Flash files such as videos and websites. See below for a quote from MarketWatch:

“The merger is expected to close in the current quarter, according to Adobe. Omniture, which provides businesses with technology used to manage their Internet sites and analyze related data, will become a business unit within Adobe, and its Chief Executive Josh James will report to Adobe Chief Executive Shantanu Narayen.

The acquisition addresses “a pain point we hear about often from our customers,” Narayen said during a conference call with analysts. Omniture’s technology, he added, will enable those customers to glean important details about interaction with Internet services and advertising developed using Adobe technology…..”
