1294063011-radioDespite the popularity of music streaming services such as Rdio, Pandora and Spotify, it’s been found that Radio is still the #1 source for music discovery in Canada. In a report by Nielson published on Wednesday, 61% of Canadians were found to discover new music via the radio, beating the likes of online sources, retail locations, magazines and satellite radio.

Rdio, an online streaming service like Spotify, was found to account for 21% of music discovery, beating out magazines (9%) and in-store marketing (14%) respectively.

YouTube was found to be the second biggest source of music discovery with 27%.

Surprising data considering the options consumers have but we’re sure this will change in the near future!
