Web 4.0 around the corner with Arm’s new processor

by Nick Beck | 14.03.2012
Arm, our very own Cambridge based, UK chip producer has developed a new kind of processor. The key is that it is claimed to be ‘the world’s most energy efficient’ processor. This paves the way for chips to be implanted into all sorts of machinery in our lives including your fridge and your alarm clock – ultimately paving the way for increase interconnectivity. The plan is to sell the chips for 20-30p plus royalties. This might sound small but the market is forecast at 50 Billion chips – you do the math! This is an exciting development – as with all new ideas, the technical infrastructure and economics behind it needs to be in place before it can really take off.
